St. Johns County’s sea turtle nesting season runs from May 1 – October 31.
However, sea turtles don’t have calendars. SJC’s first recorded nest of the
2026 season was laid by a Loggerhead on April 26 – just a few days before
the official start of nesting season. The turtles are here and are ready to
use our beautiful beaches!
